I've installed nvidia drivers and had no problems using them on my main system, but I'm trying to install them on a secondary system and I'm lost. Installed the driver, configured XF86Config, then started X and got:
NVIDIA: could not open the device file /dev/nvidia0 (Input/output error) (EE) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA kernel module does not appear to be receiving (EE) NVIDIA(0): interrupts generated by the NVIDIA graphics device. (EE) NVIDIA(0): Please see the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section in the (EE) NVIDIA(0): README for additional information. I checked the readme and it talked about setting kernel parameters that might help, I'm not sure how to do this to try it out, and then if it doesn't, I have no idea where to go from there. Any help would be appreciated. For reference, it's an old GeForce 2 MX on Slackware 10. |

The lastest nvidia driver does not support older cards. You might want to check if your card is supported.

The 1.0-7174 driver is the legacy driver that supports GeForce2 cards:
