Hi,

I've a asus notebook A4S-Q002H whit Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor 64 bit
(chipset intel 915pm + ICH6M) and NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GO 128mb.

I installed the driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-7676-pkg2.run but when I start
X, I get blank screen.
I tried in frame buffer and no frame buffer mode but the result has been the
same.

I attached the logs.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

nephelim77,
Please generate and attach a bug report. The bug report that you attached contains the following:
#####
Running nvidia-bug-report.sh... complete.

The file nvidia-bug-report.log has been created; please send this report,
along with a description of your bug, to linux-bugs@nvidia.com.
#####

I'm guessing that you tried to redirect the output.

Thanks,
Lonni

nephelim77,
I see a few potential problems in your bug report. In your X log, I see the following two warnings:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Failure reading FlatPanel flags for DFP-0.
(WW) NVIDIA(0): config file hsync range 31.5-90kHz not within DDC hsync ranges.

Where or how did you obtain that hsync range for your xorg.conf?

Also, you've specified a few different modelines generated with gtf, however the EDID probed from your display provides the following modeline:
Modeline "1280x1024my" 68.9 1280 1301 1333 1408 800 801 804 813

Thanks,
Lonni

The settings in my Xorg.conf are obtained simply using the mandrake control panel.
These settings are right using the nv driver.

However I tried the 1024x768 resolution also and hsync range 31.5-75, but with the nvidia driver it fails.

Thanks.

nephelim77,
Can you try the modeline I provided and see if it helps? When you're getting the blank screen, are you able to telnet/ssh in to generate a bug report?

Thanks,
Lonni

I tried the modeline you suggested, but the result was the same.
I've attached the relative log.

And not, I can't login (telnet/ssh...) remotely to the Asus A4S-Q002H notebook, the pc does not reply after the startx command. I must power off/power on everytime.

I also upgraded to kernel 2.6.12-8, but nothing changed about nvidia driver, it crashes everytime.

nephelim77,
Have you run a filesystem check on your system recently? I see when you last installed the nvidia driver, alot of the driver's files from the last installation had checksum differences.

Also, do you have the capability to setup a serial console to see if any kernel messages are getting generated when your laptop locks up?

Thanks,
Lonni
