Compile your kernel first. Then you'll have the scripts/basic/fixdep.

You need the kernel source (or at least the kernel source .config file and kernel headers) to complie the driver.
Do you have a kernel-devel / kernel-source RPM (or something like it) in SUSE 9.3?

Default Re: Nvidia driver compilation

I have this problem with NVIDIA and SUSE 9.3. I installed the kernel-source, make, and gcc stuff, but the NVIDIA installer cannot build the kernel module. My log file looks exactly the same as the first one, including the bit about the kernel name and stuff not being identified.

But, I have included the log anyway.

Please help.

Something is wrong the kernel source you're using.

But what?

I downloaded it using network install from two different places (one install, one update), and it still does not work.

How do I find out what is wrong?

@RobertWiese: the kernel source tree appears to be unconfigured. Running `make clobber cloneconfig prepare-all` in /usr/src/linux-2.6.11.4-20a should resolve this problem.
