Far Cry's HDR looked great when it was tweaked properly (the screen seems over-exposed at default settings). Splinter Cell 3 also had a nice, subtle HDR effect. But yes, most of the bloom/quasi-HDR effects I've seen are extremely exadurated, especially in user-made modifications. Especially when it causes the contrast of the images to be off the chart: it makes half the scene almost totally dark and the other half almost totally white.

Still, I'll probably give the mod a try. It would be nice to know if the settings could be tweaked though, if it gets too annoying it would be nice if you could just shut off or minimize the effects that you don't like.

"GTX aka The Future of GreenTech"

Hmm, anyone tried this mod on 6800 Ultra? I couldn't find anything that says it's for 7800 GTX only.

I'm curious.

oh? So is this like....a game that has the exact same story line and levels as Doom3? I guess you never played the other Doom games, there were actually pretty light.

The textures don't look so bad...it's the lack of proper shading across the surfaces that's making them look as bad as they do. Given realistic per-material shading on every texture (e.g. metal has it's own specularity), the game would look much better.

I think it means a more 'realistic' kick/blowback from firng a weapon. Personally, in this respect I think modders are trying to un-Doom Doom 3, i.e make the game more realistic in certain areas when it's not/was never supposed to be a realistic franchise in the first place. I hope I'm wrong though.

As for the look of the mod, going by the screenies it looks horrible imho. Might look different in motion though.
