Default Unable to install to 2.6.12 distro

Ok folks, I'm feeling like a newbie with this one. Just installed Vector Linux with the 2.6.12 kernel and for the life of me, I can't pull it off. I was just wondering if anyone else on the forum had similar experiences installing the new drivers to a Slackware based system. If so, I could sure use a few pointers or howto. The docs don't help a bit with this one.
