Hello,
I recently purchased a Pioneer Laptop with a Nvidia GO 6200 video card. I have tried to install the 7676 driver on three different kernels without success. When I try the "Official" Nvidia install the proces fails at three levels. 1. it cannot see the nvidia.ko kernel even though there is one in the correct directory. 2. It then tries to download one but cannot find one, and 3. It tries to build one but once built canny see the recutls. If I tire a modprobe i get the following results FATAL: Error inserting nvidia {/lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1456_FC4/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia/nvidia.ko}: No such device I have looked in that directory and there is a nvidia.ko It is not just being able to find the file or is it that it cannot "see" the card? The old driver is very slow and somtimes corrupts so I have to move on to the new one. Regards Paul |

Hello!
1. Have you installed the kernel sources? 2. Download the Nvidia driver package from www.nvidia.com 3. go to the console and login as root 4. type init 3 5. type ./Nvia.... 6. follow the instructions on the screen and let the installer compile the driver. 7. configure driver for your linux distribution |

Hello,
Yep done all that but I now found that it appears that the problem is that FC4 and/ or the driver is simply not detecting the card. I have had a couple of people say that "no device found" as a result of the modprobe is that the software system cannot detect the card in the laptop. This makes sense as when the installation fails the system re-installs the base no name solution ie Versa (sp?) soltution. What can I do now? Windows detects the card fine as that stated in the specs. Help!!!! Regards Paul |
