Unhappy nvidia drivers for powerpc - any rumors/roadmaps/plans?

Is there any chance to get drivers for PowerPC platform at some point, either open or closed source? I got rather powerful Power G5 from http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/ (thanks to IBM "linux on power" competition) - with nvidia card inside. Under linux, it uses very generic X driver - and no 2D/3D acceleration with linux at all (while macos works perfectly).
So should I go to the shop and buy ATI stuff (at least existing open source X drivers give some acceleration, because ATI provides specs to the community) - or I just should wait a bit...

I know Apple moves to Intel, but there are other vendors building systems on PowerPC. The platform is far from dead.

There won't be nvidia ppc linux drivers. Go for a ATI card. Note that in the past ATI gave out specs they stopped with that a couple of years ago. There are specs for cards upto the 9000/9100/9200/9300/X300 (those all use a similar core). For new cards above the 9500 there are no specs but there are opensource drivers that run apps like quake3 at decent speeds thanks to reverse engineering.

Thanks for the information. Is it official and final?
