Default Monitor won't go into powersave mode in CLI

I have a GeForce FX5200 and I'm running Slackware 10.1 with a 2.6.10 kernel.

The monitor won't powerdown after 60 minutes of the computer being left alone when in console mode. I can't seem to find a solution to this, maybe because I don't exactly know what I'm lookng for. I have installed the nvidia graphics driver and the monitor powers down when in X, apm is compiled into the kernel and other apm features, computer powering down after halt work. So I'd appreciate any help or hints, I could do with this being sorted because my computer spends most of its time in console mode.

I have used the same kernel in other comuter with a different graphics card and the monitor powerdown works correctly.

Cheers
Phil

Doesn't work here either so I'm afraid its another NVIDIA "feature", just like their newer GPU's not complying to VBE 3 calls to change refresh rates or the removal of the video overlay in newer cards.

As it can be made to work in X, surely there must be a way to make it work in the CLI?

Would using ACPI rather than APM help?

Would installing the NVIDIA Accelerated Linux Driver make any difference? I'm not too bothered about performance as long as it doesn't go worse, I just want the monitor to powerdown in the CLI

Cheers
