Default Can the kernel and user-space parts of releases be mixed?

I'm forced to use release 7174 in the kernel, because I have an older NVidia card, that is not supported by the 7676.

However, it seems, 7676's libGL* are newer and may provide functionality not found in the 7174. For example, newer releases may some day offer the glXGetScreenDriver and glXGetDriverConfig functions, lack of which currently prevents XOrg's xdriinfo from working.

Can one use the libraries libraries from newer releases (such as 7676) with the kernel module from 7174? Thanks!

No, this is not possible.
