How the hell did I never hear about this before? I thought the only gfx mod for Quake I & II was Tenebrae, and the Q2:Lost Marine mod for Doom 3 (but that's different, I know). DLing the nessesary files right know...

EDIT: Whoops, just realised this is a WIP . Oh well, I've still got Q2:LM to keep me happy...

The one cool thing is that it actually is still in progress -the posts on the dev forums are only a couple days old. There is an 0.66 Public Beta, but it's REALLY a beta, and doesn't include light location files for most of the maps, apparently.

EDIT: Because they need to manually place lights, you only get awesome screenies like that for maps they've made, or alternately, old maps they've fixed.

Ridiculous DOES not have an 'e' in it. It comes from "ridicule" and has less than nothing to do with the colour red.

Coded Arms for PSP in Bed last night (get that dirty thought out of your head), Advanced Wars: DS on the Train on the way to work and I played Quake 3 at lunch

May play a bit of HL2 tonight... maybe BF2, depends if I can be assed :[

yeah just quickly installed Q2 and the mod and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as that. Basically looks like Q2 with some dynamic lighting and some effects here and there but no texture changes or model replacement yet. Heck global lighting is no where near that pic.

EDIT: 836FPS in Q2 @ 1600x1200... hehe overkill!
One thing I noticed is that Q2 is VERY dark on default... I mean almost as dark as D3, I couldn't even see the walls.

I'm assuming you got the 0.4 Build? Bear in mind that those screenies are from the current developer build which is like, a year newer. Moreover, because of the way Q2 does vertex lighting, they can't just 'port' maps over without quite a lot of work. Oh well - I'm sure they'll get there eventually.

Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin. Seriously, it's a great strategy title. Besides, I've decided not to play anything that has 3D sound until my X-Fi arrives... I was a tad too quick to get rid of my Audigy 4, and have been waiting for Creative to ship their paper-launched card (Elite Pro, I'm a bit of an audio maniac). Apparently, it's finally on the way.

Apart from that, MS Flight Sim (CoF). I also need to catch up with BF2 (I've been pathetic so far), but this has to wait for the soundcard (can't stand the integrated Realtek's sound quality and positioning).

Total Overdose and Cold War. Just got them last week and been playing both.

Neither are bad at all. Total Overdose is a kick to play and Cold War is a Splinter Cell type game.

Far Cry, Half Life 2 and Counter-Strike source.

I am building systems for 2 of my friends and the look on their (non-gamer) faces when they saw the games was priceless. Woulda played Doom as well but I feared for my nice leather computer chair being soiled by them from fright
