Default Widescreen gaming

1. Is it worth it to have a larger widescreen monitor for gaming?

2. Do any games run at 1900 x 1200?

3. What about games that run at 4:3? How will it look?

Thanks......

My roommate has a Dell 2405FP so I get to see firsthand how 1920x1200 works. Nearly all the games he plays support it, or can be hacked to support it (such as BF2). The monitor supports 4:3 mode which blacks out the left and right sides to run 1600x1200, which naturally looks fine since it's not stretched. If it tried to emulate 1600x1200 in widescreen it would probably look awful.

BF2 doesn't run well with widescreen even when hacked. It still loooks like a bit stretched.

I have no problems with my Apple (native res: 1680X1050). Most games can be hacked to support it and you can put it in 4:3 if anything looks really bad. BF2 is still a problem, as the HUD is always a little stretched, but in time all games will support widescreen. It's a much nicer format.

QFT ('xcept for the BF2 part, since I still haven't got it ).

Gaming on the Apple Cinema HD 20" is sweet...

HL2, Colin 2005, Doom3 look awesome.

If you want some more info on widescreen gaming, I suggest you to take a look at http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/ (thx Muya, btw )...

I just recently got my Dell 2005FPW and playing games like Counter Strike in widescreen is just . . . just . . . SWEET!!! You can see a noticeable amount more on the sides (no duh) but it makes the experience even better.

Try jumping into a jet and take look at the hud. It looks stretched, doesn't it?
