Default FEAR "press any key" lock up

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum & have looked around for some answers but no luck. Perhaps someone here has suffered the same as me?

The fault is as follows: When loading the game when "press any key to continue" appears when I do the PC locks up SOLID! No ctrl alt del works! Nada! Only the reset button. However this doesn't happen all the time.

I installed the patch & that "seems" to have fixed it however with the patch installed I get lines appearing almost like the teaaring you get when disabling v-sync (but worse). This "tearing" happens geven during the Sierra animated logo!

My system is as follows:

Asus P5ND2-Sli-Deluxe nForc4 chipset
2 x SATA WD1600 HDD in RAID 1 using the nForce RAID controller
2 x BFG 7800GTX o/c in Sli mode
P4 Extreme Edition 3.7Ghz
4Gig Corsair RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy 4
Water Cooling on CPU & North Bridge (both running at 42 deg)
Over clocked Pci Ex to 3Mhz & FSB to 10112Mhz

Thanks all!

Does the problem persist if you don't overclock anything?

Are you using the 81.85 nvidia drivers?
The ones that were just released? It fixes a bunch of Fear problems.

Good point jAkUp, I thought I read 81.85 in his specs somewhere.
