Just Installed Nvidia Drivers for Geforce 3 500 - no sound

Hi

I installed GEforce 3 - 500 ti - I am able to play ET OK so its all good, however, I don't get any sound at all in the game.

lspci produces:

00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60)

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV20 [GeForce3 Ti 500] (rev a3)

BTW the driver I installed was :

NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7664-pkg1.run


OK here is some more infor - when I run ET in console (linux)

/dev/dsp: Input/output error
Could not mmap /dev/dsp
------------------------------------

I can play music OK.
Anyone have a solution?

OK found a solution here:

All i had to do was run this as root:
echo "et.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
