Default Q4 7800 Settings

Since we have a thread for the 6800 GT why not have one for the 7800? Here are my settings

Video Quality: Ultra
Screen Size: 1024x768
Aspect Ratio: Standard
Fullscreen: Yes
High Quality Speical Effects: Yes
Shadows: Yes(how could you use the doom 3 engine without them?)
Specular: Yes
Bump maps: Yes
Vertical sync: No(What does this do?)
Antialiasing: Ive been playing with this and im trying to find a good place.

System:
CPU: AMD64 3500+
Mother Board: ASUS A8N Premium
Memory: 1gig
Graphics Card: eVGA Geforce 7800 GT
Sound Card: Audigy 2 Platium
Harddrive: 200gig SATA 150
OS: Gentoo Linux 2005.1 ~amd64

Tomarrow im going to do some Linux tweaks(renice and such) and see what I can do. Quake4 seems to be sucking up 99% of my CPU during alot of the ingame movies and at random during the game and around 70% of memory. Can anyone else confirm this?

For a definition of vsync, see this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_synchronization

I use 1600x1200, 4xAA/8xAF, and all game settings are maxed except I'm using High Quality instead of Ultra Quality (since the 7800s only have 256M).

What kind of framerates are you getting at 1024x768? Do you stay pegged at 60fps?

Using FRAPs, fps capped at 60fps for me (1600x1200 4xAA, all game settings maxed, with VSync On or Off)

fps is supposed to capped at 60 in this game, unless your doing a timedemo.

remember, 60fps in q4 == 125fps in q3

My AF settings might have been at 4xAF instead of 8xAF after seeing SH64's thread. Edit: Actually, it was Superfly's thread.

Try looking the feedback thread or one of the other threads. I've seen that info mentioned in one of them recently. I gave it a shot to see what it was like but it seemed to make things too fast.

1600x1200 4x/8x High Quality.

The stuttering on Ultra Quality is unberable.

Its smooth for the most part, a few scenes it dips a little.

BTW, I just became a strogg.. its pretty sweet
