Thumbs down OpenGL fails to initialise - GEforce4 with mandriva 2006

New to Linux, although have used unix a small amount, I've installed the download edition of the above, all went pretty smoothly.

I've noticed the full range of graphics mode for the card do not seem to be available (compared with those available under windows), however I can live with that.

However, I get an "openGL failed to initialise"; this occured when I was in the mandrake control center type thing, looking under the "graphics" section.

Sorry its a bit vague, I've not tried installing any updated drivers yet, thought I'd mention on here just in case it might be something obvious, Besides, for all I know mandriva 2006 might include the latest nvidia driver anyway.

Kernel version is, and its a generic Geforce4 running on a AMD athlon XP with a MSI motherboard.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm afraid I don't know how the Mandrake control center determines whether OpenGL has initialized. Are you running into any functional problems beyond this?

Also, please generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log for review.
