I've been doing a lot of searching and have been unable to find a definitive answer: is XvMC supposed to work on AMD64 with the latest drivers? It doesn't seem to work for me. Does it work for anyone? When can we expect support? Lets put the definitive answer here in this thread. My card is an FX 5200, though I'd like to know if it works on any nvidia cards under AMD64 linux. Thanks.

I'm interested in the answer to this question as well.
I'd also like to know if XvMCCopySurfaceToGLXPbuffer() works on 64 bit hardware. Mike |

@vagodin: what doesn't work, exactly? Please describe the problem you're seeing in greater detail. Please also generate and attach a nvidia-bug-report.log file.

It works for me (Gentoo pure 64 bit, Athlon 64 3200+, GeForce FX Go 5700, tested using MPlayer), with the latest drivers even flawlessly so far.
Though there is not much point in it with that system, speed is the same, CPU usage is almost the same (you have to use a resolution around 1920x1080 to see any difference). |

True, "video overlay" is no longer present on the newer cards, but "video texture" is. They are two different methods for the underlying Xv or XvMC support.

Hmmm... how will I know if it works? using -vo xvmc in mplayer doesn't seem to work. That's what I meant when I said it didn't work. Is there a simple test to see if it's working?

My mistake. xvmc DOES work in mplayer with the new drivers. Thanks everyone. The issue is resolved. XvMC DOES work on AMD64, at least with the FX 5200 and other chips listed here.
