I'm not aware of any other problems with current NVIDIA Linux graphics drivers and kernels that would lead to system reboots. Have you checked your system's RAM with memtest86+ or a similar memory test utility? Does the problem reproduce with a vanilla Linux 2.6 kernel?

q3a, random open source games etc. im running 2.6.11-amd64-generic (straight from debian packages) and the problem also occurs with a 32bit kernel (and full install) im not awair of anyone else on here using a 6600gt pcie. every other referance to hardware has been inferior cards and nothing on pcie. given that ut2004 works in windowsxp, and the crashes occur in the exact same way in both 32bit and 64bit linux i would definately say its a driver problem in linux. ill build a newer kernel from source and see what happens. |

Perhaps this is a UT2004 bug you're hitting?

im not opposed to that idea. not much for that though as support on that end is pretty sketchy i installed the amd64 demo and same results. so something wierd is going on somewhere. i can still... - borrow someone elses video card and see how that fairs - wait for newer drivers from you guys - pray - install a different distribution *gasp* Dean |

i almost convinced myself it was a sound problem, but removing the sound card all together did nothing to solve the constant crashes. both ut and cedega'd game both freeze or reboot the system when they 'engage' 3d. ie the games logo appears and when it would seem that the program goes to use 3d its all over. quake3 still runs splendidly to review things - im running 2.6.14 amd64 with 1.0-7676 with all 5 or so patches currently on the forums. things work fine in windows xp. |

Hi,
have you guys tried and replayed the sdllib ut2004 is shipping with the system's lib? I had constant ut2004 crashes (but my box survived) until I changed the sdl lib. |

i replaced it with a symbolic link to the debian sdl libraries (/usr/lib/libSDL....), which is the same version that quake3 uses. dear nvidia people, is it possible that some sort of agp stuff is happening and confusing the poor card. given that its a pci-e and i dont know any linux users on here using pci-e. what configuration options are there that i can play with? can i give someone ssh access to poke around inside my system? |

this line in the config file was the solution, it now works fine. netllama, could you please patch the drivers so that they dont freeze when whatever this does happens. i think its something being probed normally for agp and not liking it on pci-e. |
