Default Sync to vblank (openGL and blitter adaptor)

Can somebody explain what these options do (both off by default)? The nvida-settings help is pretty useless - it basically says by ticking this you turn it on and unticking it you turn it off.

I have a GeForce 4 MX 440-SE - am I supposed to have OpenGL and video blitter adaptor both sync'ing to vBlank?

Thanks,

Nick

The opengl sync to vblank can be used to sync the framerate in opengl applications with the refresh rate. So if quake3 runs at 250fps and your refresh rate is 85Hz, then quake3 will be limited to 85fps. This can improve image quality. Note that when the framerate is lets say 60fps nothing will happen.

The sync to vblank option for the video blitter does the same but then for video playback using Xv.

I see - I only play Quake2 at 60 fps anyway, and I don't use Xv.

Thanks for info.
