Default 8174 with Quadro and 16G RAM

Hi!

We are having Problems getting Linux machines with Quadro Cards (PNY 285 or 540) running. Installing the 8174 Drivers is no problem, but starting X freezes the machine. With 2G RAM it is working- even with 4 when disabling hardware and software memory mapping, but with 16GB of RAM the system freezes instantly. Mainboard is either Supermicro H8DCE or Tyan 2892 with 2 270 Opteron CPUs each. Kernelversion is 2.6.14.2.

Any hints appreciated,
Michael ****ner!

PS: Sorry, not my fault that my familyname is censored.

Please generate and attach an nvidia-bug-report.log file; does the kernel panic when X is started or does the system just hang?

The System dies. I created a logfile mounting / sync, so there is a little bit more to read.

Thanks in advance,
Micha!

PS:my nvidia-bug-report.log is 107.7kb in size- which is too large to attach. I created an archive, containing also the log created by X while mounted sync.
PPS: Why are .tgz or .tar.gz attachments not allowed?

I have a few questions:
0) Does this problem reproduce with the latest SLES9-SP2 kernel?
1) Here is a problem, although certainly not the cause of a full lockup:
####
(II) LoadModule: "glx"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/extensions/libglx.so
dlopen: /usr/lib64/libGLcore.so.1: invalid ELF header
(EE) Failed to load /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(II) UnloadModule: "glx"
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (loader failed, 7)
####
How did you install the 1.0-8174 driver?
2) Does this problem reproduce with 1.0-7676 as well?
3) This looks suspect:
####
PCI-DMA: Disabling AGP.
PCI-DMA: More than 4GB of RAM and no IOMMU
PCI-DMA: 32bit PCI IO may malfunction.<6>PCI-DMA: Disabling IOMMU.
####
If you boot with the "iommu=memaper=2" kernel parameter, does that have any impact?

Thanks,
Lonni
