For those who like to compile our own drivers, or for distros like gentoo that do it automatically, it creates two extra steps to compile settings and xconfig since their sources are not included in the package.run file for nvidia drivers. Currently, the .run files provide only x86 32 bit binaries of those files in the bin directory.
nvidia-settings source is avail at: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nvidia-settings/ and xconfig similarly at: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nvidia-xconfig/ Those needing or wishing to compile those programs have to do extra steps. IMHO it would not cause significant additional size overhead to include those two companion program sources in the .run files, nor difficult to add configure options to optionally compile one or both of them. Hope you'll consider adding these applications. Thx |
