Best configuration for best performance

I need some help to configure my Gforce 6600 GT APG on mandriva 2006 Linux.
For you what is a best configuration for have a best performance ?
xorg.conf, nvidia options, tips triks

My configuration is :
Processor type : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Speed : 3.3 Ghz
Memory : 1771 Mo
Video card : GeForce 6600 GT/AGP/SSE2
Memory : 128
Drivers : 2.0.1 NVIDIA 81.74
Sound card : Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
Drivers : ALSA alsactl version 1.0.9
kernel : 2.6.12-12mdksmp
X version : Xorg Version 6.8.99.900 (6.9.0 RC 0)
System : Mandrake Mandriva Linux release 2006.0 (Official) for i586

There is no 'one' best configuration. Which application(s) are you looking to get 'best performance' out of? What are you usage requirements?

Ihave updated my nvidia driver to 1.0-8178
In fact I need some help to configure my system for playing to native linux games and windows emulation games.

With my actual configuration (last nvidia drivers)

- Glxgears give me so ~6800 FPS
- In HalfLife² : I’ve only 20 FPS
- In counter strike source :
Performance video : 48 FPS
In game : 20 FPS
- In tux racer 200 FPS

I suppose my configuration is not good because with a old nvidia drivers, Geforce 5700 256 Mo and old cedega, i had obtain “in games” 80 FPS in Counter strike source.

For you, witch option can I had to obtain a good configuration for my Geforce 6600 GT 128 AGP 8 ?
Option in xorg.conf ?
Option in modprobe.conf ?

For example
More post tell :
Make sure you have AGPVertexRam at 64 Mo or highter.
But where can I force this option ??
