The README.txt says there might be a precompiled module for Fedora FC4 2.6 14-1.1653 using the nvidia 8174. Any one know where this is located if one is available?
My attempt to compile a kernel module for FC4 2.614-1.1653 fails with ->Error ERROR: Unable to build the NVIDIA kernel module. ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file ... nvidia-installer.log and above all that was internal compiler error: Segmentation fault Please submit a full bug report (using Bugzilla). I'm such a novice that I doubt I have actually uncovered a bug. Any one else have better luck? Larry |

1.0-8174 does not include a precompiled kernel module for the FC4 2.6.14-1.1653 kernel.
I've successfully built & installed 1.0-8174 on a system with the 2.6.14-1.1653 kernel, so you're either hitting an obscure gcc bug, or something is broken on your system. Thanks, Lonni |

Hello Lonni and all,
Went back and tried the installation again after running for a week or so back on the 1644 kernel. This time the installation went without a problem. The "installer" compiled a new kernel module. I copied my old "twinview" xorg.conf file over and everything is working as normal. I have no idea what I did wrong the first time. Lonni, thanks for your pertinent and very informative posts on the Linux Nvidia forum. Installation of the nvidia driver was anything but straight forward for me, a Linux newbie. Without this forum and your advice, I would be lost! May you find Health and Prosperity in the New Year! LarryJ |
