How to install binutils?
In order to installing graphics driver,i have to install the the binutils-2.13.1 first,but factly i have know nothing about how installing the binutils.So if you know it,tell me how to do it,and it's better for me that telling me step by step,because i am new man for linux. : ),Thanks a lot.

Distro?
Installing binutils depends on your distro... so which one is your distro(debian 3, redhat 8..9, mandrake, suse...............)?

oh,yes,it's redhat 8.0(2.4.20-20.8) and binutils-2.13.1. Hope geting your help.thanks.

Redhat 8 development RPMs
You must install all the RPM files needed for development. In general, you choose to install them when you first install the OS. But you can go through the package manager(check the menus): install all the development(devel) RPM files from the redhat package manager. In there you'll find the binutils, because binutils are fundamentals if you want to do development. The drawback is a system able to do development takes a lot more room than a "just run" system.
I would recommend you to upgrade to the lastest redhat, namely the 9.x because for what I understand redhat 8 is a kind of beta version for redhat 9. |

ok so how about doing it in Ubuntu 5.10. It looks like it's based on the Debian kernal but i'm an absolute linux newb so i might be wrong. But i'm having the same problems with my install calling for binutils.
