Thanks, that's good news.
The problem with 848x480 however is, that the beamer doesn't recognise the new resolution. But that's a problem BenQ should handle, IMHO.

I just got a mail from BenQ saying, that although 854x480 is the native resolution of the beamer, it doesn't support it, at least not on the DVI-In.
Their excuse was, that PAL movies come in *x576, so that some scaling would occure anyway, so running in the native resolution wouldn't increase picture quality.
But apparently they didn't think that anyone would be doing other things than watching movies with the beamer....

Now my only hope is that they adress this in a firmware update. I taunted them a little bit with the fact that nVidia is at least trying to do something.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Definitely post an update if the divide-by-8 problem isn't resolved in the next driver release.

Thanks,
-Lonni

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that the divide-by-8 problem still exists in the 8174-driver.
I didn't bother with a bug-report, because the message in the logs is still exactly the same, but if you want me to, I can provide one.

Actually, if you could start X with the following command and post the resulting X log that would be useful:
startx -- -logverbose 6

thanks,
Lonni

Thanks. I spoke to development, and unfortunately it turns out that the workaround for the 'divide-by-8' issue got pushed out to a later driver due to higher severity bugs that needed to be addressed in 1.0-8174. Right now, this work is tentatively scheduled for a driver release version higher than 1.0-8500. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,
Lonni

Ah, I kept wondering why the the nvidia driver rejected the EDID provided modes of my hdtv until I saw this thread =)

For instance:
