Default Linux 2.5.X and Nvidia Driiver 4191

Is there any chance to compile the Nvidia Driver for a 2.5.X kernel? Anyone out there having experience with this?
I want to use the 2.5. kernel because of its' ACPI suspend features.

There is no official support whatsoever; if you run into a problem, you will have to back down to 2.4 before nVidia will consider the bugreport.

However, there are a set of 2.5 patches posted in one of the threads here that might get it to work. Maybe.

Christian Zander and myself maintain a series of patches for the 3123 and 4191 drivers. You can get these patches from:

Please note that though these patches work for us, they're not at all official and are in some places quite wrong (the module work is incomplete and although it seems to work, this is probably a fluke).

In addition, ACPI is one of the features of a linux 2.5 kernel which causes extremely bad interactions with the NVIDIA kernel module in some cases. You may be met with limited success. Consider ignoring "extensive" ACPI support in favour of a working driver.

Unless you are a developer, I would not recommend the upgrade to 2.5. The myth that users as testers are needed is surprisingly distributed and quite incorrect. Test the 2.6.x pres.
