Default Quadro2 Pro / Linux 2.6.15-rc5

Hi,

I'm having trouble again, because I got a workstation with a Quadro2 Pro graphics card, but sadly 8174 does not work with the old chips - but I need Linux 2.6.15-rc5 running on the workstation, which needs at least 8174 for reasonable operation.
The problem is, that 7174 and 2.6.15-rc5 do not work together very well, when I start firefox the computer freezes...no problems with a GeForce4 Ti4600 and 8174.

So are you nVidia guys going to release a new "legacy driver" soon? Would be really nice for me...
Or is there anything I can do to get it working?

Peter

A new legacy driver release is planned for early 2006.

Thanks,
Lonni

What is "early" 2006? First 3 months or first 2 weeks? (It would be great for me to have a rough guess)

Another great thing would be if you would mention the legacy driver on you unix drivers list on the nvidia homepage separated from the other ones, I had to use google to find out what the "legacy driver" is - it is not explained or linked on the nvidia homepage.

But thanks for the reply!!! I am very much looking forward to the new legacy driver!

Yes, an answer from Nvidia on this issue would be useful.

Please tell us what "early" means.

Thank you.
