I have two monitors connected to an nvidia card, with twinview, working well. But I figured I could put in an ati card and use it for the tvout. The problem is I seem to either be able to have all 3 on xinerama (which I dont want, as I dont want the window manager putting windows on it when the tv is off most of the time anyway), or keep them all seperate.
Is it possible with twinview to have the two monitors connected to the nvidia card using xinerama, and the tv on :1.0? |

Just use normal twinview for your nvidia card and use a seperate X server for the ati card at moments you need tvout. (startx -- -xf86config /etc/X11/XF86Config.ati :1)

In case you do that on a single videocard something like that will happen but there's no reason it would happen in a dual videocard situation as the second Xserver isn't related to the first one.

if I start another X server it's the same as switching to tty8 or tty1 for that matter, it'll turn off the display on tty7. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm using the ati card or not for that display, it'll still turn off the nvidia one.
