I have a Geforce NVidia FX 5500 PCI 128MB video card and am currently running SuSe 10.0. I have a 2.6 GhZ Pentium 4 system with 512 MB of RAM. My video performance becomes extremely choppy when I run Starcraft, and it becomes moderatly choppy when scrolling down a web page that has flash based ads. When I run glxgears, it doesnt run smooth. Any suggestions?

Also, when I run GLXGears, I get anywhere from 1500 FPS on up to a max of 3000 FPS.

Run glxinfo - you want to see direct rendering in there and no SGI/Mesa vendor servers or clients.

glxgears isn't a benchmark, but the numbers look normal. You won't get >1000 without DRI. You are aware that your card is a crappy one, right?

I am aware that my card is a cheap card, but my graphics run much smoother in Windows than on Linux. In Windows, there's no hint that the card is reaching its limit while in Linux its a different story. I want to make it so that my card runs just as good on Linux as on Windows.
