Default Philips 109C6SF confiure problem

hi all,

I am not sure where to look for the configurebug (i suppose it is) so I start in this forum.

I recetly bought an ASUS N6200 (G-force 6200). My monitor (LCD is connected to the VGA plug, as I dont have the DVI plug available)

When the xserver starts the screen gets almost unviewable, much darker and blender screen. I see the nVidia splash. I can see everything but not in theright way. When I start nvidia-settings and play a bit with the colour values I can make the screen a bit more readable to be able to access this forum and post this message. I have to look to the screen from above a bit too to mk it clearer.

From the Philips website I took the HorizSync 30-83 and VertRefresh 56-76 rates.

I installed the nvidia linux driver and the xorg.conf looks like this:

Code:
Section "Files"
   FontPath "unix/:-1"
EndSection

Section "ServerFlags"
   AllowMouseOpenFail
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Keyboard"
    Driver "keyboard"
    Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
    Option "XkbLayout" "us"
    Option "AutoRepeat" "250 30"
    Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Mouse"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
EndSection

Section "Module"
    Load "dbe"
    Load "glx"
    Load "extmod"
    Load "type1"
    Load "freetype"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "LCD"
    VendorName "Philips"
    ModelName "Philips 109C6FS"
    HorizSync 30-83
    VertRefresh 56-60
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "NV AGP"
    VendorName "nvidia"
    Driver "nvidia"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen AGP"
    Device "NV AGP"
    Monitor "LCD"
    DefaultColorDepth 16

    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 16
        Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
    EndSubsection
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "AGP"
    InputDevice "Mouse" "CorePointer"
    InputDevice "Keyboard" "CoreKeyboard"
    Screen "Screen AGP"
EndSection

So what is wrong in my settings? I hope someone can help me out here!

thanks,
Bastiaan

See zipped nvidia-bug-report in he attachment (why not allow .bz2 files? ;-)

I found something that I do not understand:

Code:
(II) TDFX(0): monitor1: Using hsync range of 30.00-85.00 kHz
(II) TDFX(0): monitor1: Using vrefresh range of 50.00-160.00 Hz
And I had set them to 30-83 and 56-76! There must be the mistake...

thanks,
Bastiaan

Does this problem reproduce with the 1.0-8178 driver?

Thanks,
Lonni

No it doesn' t as it fixed it :-)

After running the new install it renerated its own xorg configfile which didn' t work. But the old configfile that I used did work well.

Thanks!
