Default What's nVidia CG?

I've recently seen some Linux games that call for the nVidia CG package to be installed, so pixel shaders and a few other things will work. I also tried to run another game that won't run because it requires libCgGL.so, which appears to be part of this CG package everyone is talking about.

My question is, what is the CG package, and where do you get it? Thanks .

The nvidia CG toolkit is available for download directly from Nvidia (http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg_toolkit.html).
I know at least Debian has installer packages that downloads and install it for you.

As for what it does... Well, I installed it in the hope that it made something look better or run faster so I too would like a (semi) technical explanation of what it does actually do
From nvidias webpage: "Cg, a high-level language for graphics programming."
Btw which linux games asked for libCgGL.so?

There you go.

Thanks for the answers .

Planeshift makes use of Cg, as does Ecksdee.

I find it interesting that nVidia developed it in cooperation with Microsoft, and yet it's available for Linux as well. I wonder if Microsoft would have been so willing to help them develop it if they had known it was going to be ported to Linux.
