Default X hangs on logout,shutdown,restart

I can not figure out why X starts up perfectly with nvidia driver but when I go to close down X it hangs. Box is pingable and can ssh into it but unable to change VT's or restart X server with ctrl+alt+bp. I have posted all relevant information I can think of. I tried a couple of kernel params, unfortunately if I have 'acpi=off' the kernel won't load at all which may be an indication of something much bigger, and 'noapic' doesn't have any effect as well. I am at a complete loss as to why X is hanging on closing.

Code:
adam@franky:~$ uname -r

adam@franky:~$ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status

the log.. interesting thing to note is the /proc/interrupts I thought applying noapic on the kernel line would force nvidia to _not_ share irq's?

Does this reproduce with 1.0-8178 as well?
Have you tried different values for NvAGP?

Thanks,
Lonni

It failed with NvAGP 1 as well, haven't tried 2 should I?

Also I am in the process of building the driver from nvidia.com instead of the ubuntu repo. If it still fails I am going to totally rebuild the kernel disabling all acpi and see if that corrects it.

I will take any other suggestions until then though

thanks

If this fails with 1.0-8178, I'd like to see a new bug report.

Thanks,
Lonni

Ok will try that, good ole Ubuntu compiles their kernel with gcc 3.4 and compiles everything else with gcc4.0 :X will try to work around this if not build a new kernel with gcc4.0
