Default i2c interface broken

The new i2c interface seems to unuseable from userspace (have not tryed a kernel module yet).
It does not support anything no quick write, no read byte ...
any way to probe for chips? All "normal" ways seems to fail.
Or does it only works from within the kernel?

Default Re: i2c interface broken

Did you try sensors-detect from the lm_sensors package?

I get stuff like that (GF6600GT), however can not use the chip's sensors, prolly missing a correct driver or related to the inability to read/write to the i2c (i wonder why it can detect anything then at all, specific protocol?).

Next adapter: NVIDIA I2C Device
Do you want to scan it? (YES/no/selectively):

nvclock uses its own interface.
I can detect the sensors but I can not dump them using i2cdump
tryed everything always XX not supported (maybe ISA?)
