Hello!
Should I expect wine to work with 64-bit nvidia driver? I'm using FC5 64-bit edition, wine is from Fedora Extras, nvidia drivers from linva repository. Generally speaking, wine works, except for 3D games. I got them all working in the past on 32bit machine, but now they all fail with errors. Most cases the error is similiar to this: X Error of failed request: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length error) Major opcode of failed request: 145 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 29 () Serial number of failed request: 4977 Current serial number in output stream: 4977 I suspect OpenGL may not be working correctly, as nvidia's libGL is 64bit and wine requires all libraries to be 32bit. Anyone got it working? |

nvidia ships both 32 and 64bit libs.
have you installed the 32 bit ones too? (the nvidia-installer asks you if you want to do that). for me wine works fine on FC5 x86_64 + nvidia driver |

Please provide an nvidia-bug-report.log along with details on how this can be reproduced, and the version of wine that you're using.
Thanks, Lonni |

If you have all the needed 32bit libraries installed wine should work fine. It runs fine here on my system and I do quite some wine development. Various areas of wine are undergoing rewrites and a part of the errors can be caused by that. Make sure you are using the latest wine (0.9.11).

Thank you all for very fast reply! I must apologize... I used rpm-packaged drivers from livna.org without even trying the offical driver installer from NVidia... I installed them now and indeed, they provide required 32-bit compatibility libraries. Just tried to run Hitman2 and it works in OpenGL
Than you very much for help! So, a warning to all FC5 users - rpm packages from rpm.livna.org curretnly don't contain 32-bit libraries. |
