Lightbulb [fix] Default installation of nvidia driver blocks screensavers in KDE 3.5

Default installation of nvidia driver blocks screensavers list in KDE 3.5 (Control Center->Appearance and Themes->Screensavers)

I use this trick to fix this:
Install driver in this way:
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8756-pkg1 --force-tls=classic
then add line:
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.3.98
to /etc/profile
after restart this will bring back screensavers list.

Do you also have troubles accessing screensavers list in KDE 3.5 with nvidia drivers installed?

Do you have KDE built from sources or binary one which came with distribution you use?

The list of screensavers is blocked with this error:
libnvidia-tls.so.1: cannot handle TLS data

but adding: export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.3.98 to /etc/profile fixes this.

The command I posted at post #1 is not needed:
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8756-pkg1 --force-tls=classic

This is not needed when everything is built in this order:
X, NVIDIA, Qt, KDE

So do not need any options to make OpenGL screensavers working 'out of box'.
