8756 install failure on FC5 -- kernel module compilation errors

The kernel module compile is failing with (void *) cast errors in nv.c. (installer log
attached).

nvidia-bug-report.sh is not on my system, so here are some relevant facts.

• compiling against 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5xen0 source package
• gcc 4.1.0 --- compiler version check goes through (see log).

Guess you need to search around for some Xen patches. Do you use Xen? If not, then you should install the normal 2080 kernel instead.

Yep, I dual boot the vanilla and xen kernels ... on the former, I was able to deploy 8765's directly from livna (a popular Fedora Core package repository); however, they don't carry a build against the Xen kernel ... thus my attempt to compile locally.

It'd be great to hear from one of the nVidia folks here as to whether they've ever successfully compiled against the Xen0 kernel in-house. Given the way Xen0 is architected, theoretically, there shouldn't be a problem (the nature of the errors in the log somewhat confirms this). Given that Xen is now included in the Fedora and Suse distributions, I'm sure they've taken a crack at it.

So, I'm hoping we can hear nVidia's experiences and get a recommendation with respect to compiling against Xen.
