The easiest way to see if the bug is fixed is to try the new driver. You can also email linux-bugs@nvidia.com to inquire.

I'm glad to have finally found out why my Tecra M4 is acting the way it is. I've baffled quite a few Gentoo gearheads over the issue (running 8178), and now I know I just need to run VESA for now and wait for a working NVIDIA release to hit.
I expect this thread will get an official bump when the issue is fixed? Hope so.

Can anyone report if 8756 fixes this bug? I just now saw the post about the workaround, but I haven't had the chance to give it a shot, and if the driver fixes it, I would rather just go that route I think.

Yes, 8756 works fine with my Tecra M3, the problem is gone. Thanks to Nvidia for this.
