Default DDC/CI not working

I have a dual head setup with two monitors that, at least according to their documentation, should support DDC/CI. I am running TwinView on a 6600LE card with driver version 1.0.8756. I have set "Option "AllowDDCCI" "true" in the "Device" section of xorg.conf. When I look in Xorg.0.log it appears that this is working (no error messages and things look like I would expect). But when I run ddccontrol -p I get the following:

ddccontrol version 0.4.1

If your graphics card need it, please check all the required kernel modules are loaded (i2c-dev, and your framebuffer driver).

So it is clearly not working. What do I have to do to get this working?

Here is my xorg.conf:
