Angry x server wont start.....again

I have a ASUS A8N5X motherboard with a PNY quadro 1300 fx card in it. I am running fedora 4 and when I install the nvidia quadro rpm it says my x server fails to start. I can get x to run if I let it make a new xorg.conf file but then I dont have opengl. I tried running the config utility and it always crashes my x server after restart.

I have already installed the drivers and I suspect I just need to configure my xorg.conf file. Every attempt I make to do so results in the crashing of my x server and the subsequent reverting to a fresh xorg.conf to fix it.

I have installed nvidia on previous machines running fedora 2 and dont remember having this many problems. It seems with each revision of the linux drivers a new problem awaits .

I can not do my work without the nvidia drivers.... Yes I am a noob but the scariest part of linux for me has been trying to install the nvidia drivers. what am I doing wrong??

okay .. here is the installer log,and the bug report log. These were created in a running terminal within X (using a "safe" configuration after the drivers have been installed)
Also, I realized I do not know how to use "sax2" or "YaST" Is this my problem?

Thank you,

Keith

one more...

here is a log file I generated after running the xconfig script. This one may be closer to the root of the problem..

Thanks
Keith

According to your bug report, the nvidia driver isn't installed:

ERROR: Unable to find the kernel source tree for the currently running kernel.
Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your
kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat Linux systems,
for example, be sure you have the 'kernel-source' RPM installed. If you
know the correct kernel source files are installed, you may specify the
kernel source path with the '--kernel-source-path' command line option.

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module!
(EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting ***

You need to install the kernel-devel RPM (yum install kernel-devel) that corresponds with the kernel you're running. You may also want to update the kernel, as the one you're using is quite old and has alot of known bugs.

Thanks,
Lonni
