Default External Monitor DPI EDID Problem

Hi,

I am trying to get twinView to work on my notebook using an external monitor.

I am using kubuntu dapper drake with the 1.0.8756 driver versions on a samsung x10 with nvida 440 go with 64 mb ram.

The problem is the following:

(WW) NVIDIA(0): Unable to get display device CRT-0's EDID; cannot compute DPI
(WW) NVIDIA(0): from EDID.

CRT-0 is a Samsung SyncMaster 193T connected via the vga port.

I am quite helpless at this point, I would appreciate any help!

I'm having the very same problem with a hercules prophetview 920 TFT panel;
driver version 7676 was the last one that properly detected the panel size by DDC. Since then i'm using Option "DPI" "95x96" in my monitor section as a workaround.

Code:

It looks like your display's EDID might not be providing size information.

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Well I Dunno about the original poster, but as soon as I install an older driver (7676 works quite well), it gets size information from the monitor just fine.

anyways, how do i generate that bugreport log thing? and where do i send it? post it here in this thread?
