Default 7900GT, VX2025, FC5 - Out of Range

Hi,

I am running into problems trying to run the latest nvidia drivers on Fedora Core 5 with a 7900GT from Evga. I have a VX2025 lcd from Viewsonic (1680x1050 native). The open source 'nv' driver seems to work fine (although without 3D acceleration). When I tried to use the nvidia drivers (installed from livna), I get out of sync errors on my monitor. Other than the driver name in xorg.conf everything is the same.

Is this a common and easily solvable problem? or will you guys need to take a look at the logs to get a better idea?

If I plug in my monitor through an analog cable it sort of works... I can see the screen but I cannot center it on the panel.

Let me know what info I can provide to help solve this problem.

Thanks!

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni

Attached is the log. As a note (not sure if it is helpful) In windows I have some similar issues. Primarily if I try to select 75hz refresh rate the monitor say's out of range. The monitor does support 1680x1050 @ 75hz, and this did work in linux / windows with my previous card ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.

I ran the nvidia-bug-report.sh script in a separate session while x was running but I couldn't interact w/ it .

*Edit*

It looks like the driver works at 1280x1024 @ 75 hz as I can see the desktop when use the Ctrl+Alt+Num+ shortcut to switch modes...

Thanks

Try requesting a "1680x1050_60" mode in the Modes section of your xorg.conf.

Thanks,

It looks like that worked... I wasn't aware of the _ syntax for specifying the refresh rate (thanks for that).

Now I just need to figure out why the 75hz mode isn't working but that is not a linux specific problem.

Thanks again,

-Ben Childs
