Default Installation instructions for Fedora Core 5

I am uncertain what updates borked the nvidia installer, but these instructions enabled me to get a functional X running with GLX usin nvidias drivers:

Install as normal.
mv the following files to the following locations:
Code:
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nivida_drv.so -> /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.so
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o -> /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so -> /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extentions/libglx.so
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.8762 -> /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.8762
For good measures I also copied the libXvMCNVIDIA files to /usr/lib/xorg, but I am uncertain if this is needed. Please give feedback.

Or you could just add atrpms and yum install the drivers

@clearer: moving the files manually isn't necessary if a few prerequisites are met, please see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=72490.

As zander said... install the xorg-x11-server-sdk package. You can run the install script without moving any files afterwards.

I will not use the rpms found on livna or atrpm for several reasons, namely that doing so have severly trashed my system on a lot of occasions.

I had already installed the xorg-x11-server-sdk pacakge before attempting to install the drivers.

What do you think I am? Noob?

If the sdk is installed, you should not be moving files as the NVIDIA installer will detect the correct locations automatically. Something isn't installed right on your system.
