Default nvidia driver installation

Sorry for boring everyone when so much has been discussed about this already, but I have a problem.

Linux version = fedora 5, updated via internet.

I followed the instructions, on how to install nvidia driver on fedora 5.
I then installed the drivers, apparently successfully.
lastly, I ran the commands to use SELinux as per this forum.

When I start X, the Nvidia splash screen appears, followed by the fedora screen. Then the problems start. The fedora GUI takes ages to start. When it does my mouse pointer is replaced with an "X". Windows won't max, min, or drag.
My Xorg.0.log file shows a problem loading the GLX module.

A solution would be very welcome.

The only things that I see in your X log that are bad is:
(II) LoadModule: "glx"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
dlopen: /usr/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied
(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(II) UnloadModule: "glx"
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (loader failed, 7)
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the GLX module; please check in your X
(EE) NVIDIA(0): log file that the GLX module has been loaded in your X
(EE) NVIDIA(0): server, and that the module is the NVIDIA GLX module. If
(EE) NVIDIA(0): you continue to encounter problems, Please try
(EE) NVIDIA(0): reinstalling the NVIDIA driver.

The failure above is due to an SELinux problem.

However, that wouldn't cause the problem you're reporting. Please generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log while this problem is present.

Thanks,
Lonni

I don't see anything in your bug report that would suggest that this problem is an nvidia driver issue.

Does this problem persist if you disable SELinux?
Does this problem persist if you switch to using the 'nv' X driver?

Thanks,
Lonni

I disabled SELinux using setenforce 0

The problem seems to be resolved. Do I need to permenently disable SELinux or is there a fix ?

I found this command on another thread in this forum;

fixfiles relabel /usr/lib/

This clears out /tmp
Then you need to reboot.

Seems to have sorted out my problem

the SElinux problem, whatever it may be, that was screwing up my nvidia drivers also messes up flash player. Disabling SELinux allows flash web pages to display.
I have edited my SELinux config file to permanently disable for the moment. If anyone has a solution, I would be glad to know it.
