The most common cause for an X segfault when loading the glx module on a Debian based system is /etc/init.d/nvidia-glx.
You could try reinstalling the driver with the --force-tls option, first set to new, and if that doesn't help, 'classic'. The only thing that I see in your bug report is that you specified a kernel source path of /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.15-26-386, which shouldn't be neccesary at all. However, that is unlikely to cause the X segfault you're experiencing. You also have some ACPI errors in your bug report, which may or maynot lead to instability, but they would be unlikely to cause the X segfault: [17179590.444000] ACPI-0158: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.TPM_._HID] (Node dffe4f40), AE_AML_NO_OPERAND [17179590.444000] ACPI-0158: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.PCI0.SBRG.TPM_._UID] (Node dffe4f20), AE_AML_NO_OPERAND |

GLX still crashes but there is a change : GLX was commented (#) in the "xorg.conf", so the installer wrote a new GLX line in last place :

netllama, I have to say you're a really great guy!
Problem solved! It was the ACPI, I have just truned the ACPI Services out and now GLX works. I didn't think about that before. Thank you, thank you |

If disabling acpi fixes the problems, then you're hitting either a kernel or BIOS bug.
Thanks, Lonni |

I've just one more question for you : is it possible to use XGL/Compiz with the official 8762 driver? Because all info I found about XGL/Compiz and Ubuntu tell to install nvidia-glx...
Thank's, xelios. |

nvidia-glx is the official driver. It just has some packaging, pre & post installation script changes, but the core driver is the same.
