Default 1.0-8774 major problems

I have had major problems from day one using the 8774 drivers.

My system specifications are as follows:

CPU: Intel Pentium D 810 - dual core
RAM: 1 GB DDR RAM
Kernel: 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5smp
Distro: Fedora Core 5
GPU: nVidia GeForce 7900 GT (just the one)
X: X.org 7.0

First of all, the drivers are unloadable if I use the installer provided by nvidia. This is true for both the driver itself and the glx extension.

Attempting to use the nv driver, while the nvidia driver was installed, also gave problems. I did not expect GL or GLX things to work but the fact that metacity was denied access by nvidias tls implementation was surpricing.

I then decided that the livna rpms might work. Whenever I try to use anything that uses OpenGL, X crashes.

And, yes, I do have xorg-x11-server-sdk package installed.

There is something horrible wrong with this version.
