Minimum 2.6 kernel required for FC 5
I'm about to upgrade to Fedora Core 5 with my 6600 GT. I've read the "Notes on installing NVIDIA Linux graphics drivers on recent distributions" thread which indicates that I should make sure "the latest update kernel is installed and in use". Since Fedora Core 5 comes with 2.6.15 on the original DVD and is upgraded to 2.6.17 with the latest kernel pulled via yum and since the latest specific kernel version I've found mentioned in relation to fixes that help Nvidia is 2.6.14 I'm curious if the kernel really needs to be updated. If it does knowing the minimum kernel version would be nice.
I tend to be conservative about upgrading kernels (like some of the other people on this forum might be). So it help me to know which versions I have to chose from. Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

Simple, try first install nvidia drivers on stock kernel, if something will go wrong then grab updated kernel.
