Hi all, there
![]() I first want address many thanks to the dev team at nvidia's for this this release, that we all were awaiting, almost all people running some cutting edges software configs such as ... xorg 7.1 ![]() Well ... my problem is that whatever I do, I cant figure out a way to setup my usual default resolution of 1600x1200 @ 85Hz since I change my "old" GF2Ti for a "less old" GF FX5200, I used the old card with the legacy driver, and that was perfectly okay for me ... then arrived the 2.6.1x kernels, with wich I could'nt compile this driver. I buyed the new one for a few $'s (I'm not a gamer, just a sysadm that sometimes launch bzflag ...). I gess the problem should reside in my monitor, a SGI GDM5011P, quite old (aow ... 9 years) and heavy machine ( I worked for years "CADing" and calculating cars and engines parts on sgi machines, which explains how I got this one, that I certainly could'nt have payed) but a nice one, believe me, it can show up to 2048x1920 resolution ... which is far to much for my eyes. As long as this model is quite old, I believe that it does not provide much EDID information. whith my old card with previous drivers I solved the problem with an option [IgnoreEDID = "true"] ... but that won't do the trick anymore ... I tried to force the Modeline by extracting the one used by the "nv" driver, which works perfectly well at any resolution, but which doesn't allow me to play crack-attack ![]() ... so ... any trick for me ? Thx for any help ^^ |

You need to request a 1600x1200 mode in your X configuration, rather than a virtual desktop. This is a common issue for people running Mandriva.
Thanks, Lonni |

Thx Lonni, but I already tried that, the only difference when specifying a 1600x1200 mode with no virtual, is that I get ... no virtual screen, but I'm still stuck at 1280x1024, here you'll find a log generated in this mode.

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6 and then post a new bug report. I'll also note that it doesn't look like the driver was installed properly: (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the GLX module; please check in your X (EE) NVIDIA(0): log file that the GLX module has been loaded in your X (EE) NVIDIA(0): server, and that the module is the NVIDIA GLX module. If (EE) NVIDIA(0): you continue to encounter problems, Please try (EE) NVIDIA(0): reinstalling the NVIDIA driver. Thanks, Lonni |

mmmm .... okay .... I saw in the log that "IgnoreEDID" option was deprecated, then replaced it by the new [Option "UseEDID" "False"] ... and i got back my 1600x1200 @85 Hz
Many thank for loosing your time for dummies like me ![]() ... gonna go and see what's wrong with GLX module and Render option ... Olivier |
