7900GS Support
Is there an AMD64 linux driver that supports this chipset(I don't see it listed in the readme as supported in the latest driver)? If not when is a driver expected to support this card?

Various new cards which are based on other 'current' models are useally supported. Some boards like the 7900GS didn't officially 'exist' yet when the driver got out, so that's why it isn't in the docs.
I would just try to install the drivers and then see what happens  |

You are correct the driver detects and works with the 7900GS card.
