This looks like a SuSE problem.

i installed today nvidia (gforce ) driver without problem

Module.symvers exist
Code:
/usr/src/linux-2.6.16.21-0.13-obj/x86_64/default/Module.symvers
fixdep also seem to exist

forcedeth.ko should replace the pre-existing forecedeth.ko for the kernel you're currently running. Then all you should need to do is bring down all interfaces which use forcedeth, unload the old driver (rmmod forcedeth), and then bring the interface(s) back up again.

You can verify that you're using the new version by inspecting the output from "ethtool -i eth0".

Thanks,
Lonni

I have had this x86-64 machine for just about a year now. I have never used the Nvidia chipset stuff and I've had very few problems. It's in all the newer kernel releases. Learn to build em'.

For anyone struggling to build kernel modules I just found this great webpage describing the relevant steps you need to take (on SuSE) to get to the point where you can build forcedeth. It's here:

Have fun!
