Default 8774 Linux x86-64 SUSE 10.1 - Quadro Card

Hello there,
I believe I posted on the workstation cards site, and should have been here.

Running SUSE 10.1 on an Tyan mb with Opteron and 8GB Ram. The Graphics card is a PNY 1300 series. The card works great in default mode (dummy/empty), although very slow.

The Nvidia drivers install fine, no errors even when the sh program had to rebuild the kernal interface. I even ran 3Ddiag afterwards with no reported errors. After the install and set to runlevel 5, the Samsung 912 screen is "blank" after boot, with the power light blinking. I can log into the system via network ssh, but no display. I viewed the Xorg.0.log file and everything seems ok WITH exception to font warnings--no errors

You help is much appreciated, as I would like to keep this card, but I am running out of options. I really next to get this thing crunching numbers soon, with graphics! :-)

uname -r gives 2.6.16.13-4-smp
Thanks
david

Those WAITs in the log don't look good. With your setup you might need a 500+W PSU, what's yours?

I have a few questions:
0) Does this problem persist if you boot with the acpi=off and/or noapic kernel parameters?
1) Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS for the motherboard?
2) Does this reproduce with a 2.6.17.x kernel.org kernel?

Thanks,
Lonni

Thanks for the replies. I plan to be at the workstation this weekend and try and answer your questions. Again, thanks for your help. Been many-many years since I've done this.

This may sound stupid but have you tried changing resolution from the keypad? (hold down alt-ctrl and press a numpad - or + key) Or try one of the other virtual terminals (ctrl-alt 1, ctrl-alt 2 etc) If this works then you've got a modeline that needs adjustment (or just comment out the horizsync and vertsync and let it use DDC)
