Default nVidia driver and flat panel display issue.

I have a Gateway 700S LTD with a GeForce2 MX 440 video card installed. The display is a Gateway FPD1510 connected to the card through a hDVI cable supplied by Gateway rather than the standard VGA port.

I have SuSE 10.1 installed and running, and I would like to use the commercial drivers so I can install Xgl and compiz. When I connect one of my CRTs with a standard VGA connector, the driver works (I get the nVidia splash screen before I get whatever desktop I am using). However, when I have the hDVI cable connected, nothing happens. (No splash screen or anything else for that matter.)

How do I get the commercial drivers to work with the DVI port?

Please generate and post an nvidia-bug-report.log that captures the problem.

I think I had the same/very alike problem, try adding: Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP"
in your xorg.conf
